Are you an epidemiologist with a rare fetish?
Come-back of the day-
Does it make me a bad person to think that fat isn’t beautiful?
No, not at all. You don’t have to justify your personal tastes, and they don’t reflect on your personality.
Having a much higher risk of heart disease isn’t very attractive.
Bigotry does, though. Do you really look for risk of cardiovascular disease when you judge people’s attractivity? Are you an epidemiologist with a rare fetish? Are you really turned on by smooth arterial walls? Do you have a portable ECG monitor handy on your first dates? Do you run away disgusted when you hear that you potential partner’s father had a heart attack? (Because that would mean their cardiovascular risk is several times than that of an average fat person without familial history. Yuck!)
If you don’t like the way fat people look, that’s perfectly fine. Your taste is your personal business, and so is these women’s medical record.
From the wonderful M in this thread at Sociological Images. (Warning for lots of ‘But fat makes you dead!!’ comments, but the discussion is surprisingly decent for a non-fat acceptance blog.)
